Gamma-poly-glutamic acid(Y-PGA) is a natural,multi-funtional,biodegradable biopolymer produced from L-glutamic acid through a fermentaion process with aBacillus subtilis.PGA is a water-soluble homo-polyamide consisting of D-and L-glutamic acid monomers connected by amide linkages between α-amino and Y-carboxyl groups. It is biodegradable, edible and non-toxic towarda human and environment; it has broad applications in fields of medicine, foods,cosmetics,plastics and water treatment
Applications
Y PGA and its derivatives can be widely used in the food industry, cosmetics, health care, water treatment, hygienic products, medical and other fields
